Who is the god Moloch?
He is the Phoenician god Baal-Moloch. He was gluttonous for blood, fond of human sacrifices, especially children, and burning them on his altar would please him, so he would bestow his blessings on his followers. It is said that Moloch used to ask for the body of a young child every year, put him in a coffin and burn it in front of his shrine

More than 100,000 Jews gathered at Soldier Field in Chicago to celebrate 3,000 years of Jewish history and the nation by worshiping a fire-breathing statue of Moloch and feeding it to children. The event was called “Romance for the People.”
It was organized by the Zionist Organization of America, sponsored by the Jewish Agency, with the assistance of Rabbi Solomon Goldman and Maurice Samuel, author of Ye the Nations. One of the big speakers at the event was none other than Chaim Weizmann, Israel's first president and the man who wrote alongside Lionel.
